FLOWER BOMB FLOWER SET DESIGN by rawan rihani

A year ago, we had the opportunity to create for Flowerbomb perfume by Viktor and Rolf, alongside Fohr Card and photographer Noah Kalina.  The result was pure magic.  Here are a few photos behind the scenes in this flower wonderland.

AN EXPERIMENTAL UNION - CATHERINE AND AARON by rawan rihani

One of theee main reasons why I love doing wedding florals is because each wedding is truly one of a kind.  It is a collaboration, and a union not just for the couple, but for me to express and connect to the couple and their aesthetic, their personality in a sacred artistic way.

Catherine and Aaron came to me to do their flowers, they both being artists, had particular ideas in mind that they were working on, and so a collaboration was in the making!  I was open to experimenting with them, and the result turned out to be super cool, and so unusual, breaking traditional wedding arrangements and thinking out of the box.... but in the box!  Wait you'll see what I mean----

For a color palette, they had created it already before coming to me.  They came up with an artistic palette of lilac purples, warm french greys, greens, and flourescent yellow. I found flourescent yellow dahlias, and lots of lilac and grey toned florals in forms of pampass grass, clematis, amnesia roses, alium flower, and pulled in lots of ivy and eucalyptus to bring the green tones in.  They expressed to me that they were attracted to the way flowers look on the other side of a lucite / clear surfaces, how the flowers can become abstracted on the other side of a surface, touching the 2 dimensional plane.  We created arrangements inside lucite light boxes and the result was modern- exciting, and created a very graphic, bold and futuristic look.

Aaron and Catherine, also designed and created a teepee that would function for the wedding "arbor", and they created it so I can fill the lucite poles with flowers.  This was so special making a colorful and futuristic take on a teepee, that looked like it was made of glass, it was truly mesmerizing and pretty and fit the venue's  (The Roundhouse, in Beacon NY) aesthetic so well, with all their glass windows and super high ceiling.

The couple also have a pet turtle, and realized they couldn't bring him along for their special day, so we added a turtle figurine on the groom's boutonniere to symbolize his presence!

It was too good! I hope to collaborate more with artists because this became an unexpected wonder!

FEATURED WEDDING: NANCY AND SHANE PHOTOGRAPHED BY THE RAMSDENS by rawan rihani

I finally realized that I've been hiding so many gems of my work and so much beauty and inspiration that deserves to be shared, so I am finally featuring some of my favorite weddings thus far in the days of working as Aurora Botanica.

Nancy and Shane are friends of mine, I met Nancy in my early days in New York, having just quit the fashion world, I took up odd jobs including waitressing, and met her on my first day on the job.  Once we started talking, we connected immediately almost as if I had already known her long time! Even though I hated that job, I love that I took it because I gained a beautiful friend.

So when she asked me if I would do her flowers for her wedding, I was deeply honored. I asked her what were some of her favorite flowers and overall mood for the wedding, and she gave me the reign to create for her.  I know Shane is a writer and they both have a passion for vintage, rustic romantic style, so I channelled my inner poet whilst making her bouquet and floral pieces.

Aside from her bouquet, I also created her veil with silk chiffon and a vintage lace trim, hand sewed the trim on a few days before her wedding day, and has also fit her stunning vintage edwardian lace wedding dress to fit her just right.

The Ramsdens captured the spirit and essence of the magic in the air on their special day, and I am honored to share their stunning photographs of their special day. They married at the Lady Chapel in Purchase, NY on a brisk and sunny early Spring day.

Nancy wore the Gabriella veil we created for her, a vintage dress from Gossamer and a lush bouquet with wild jasmine.

Shane's boutonniere was made with spray rose, fern and lavender clipping and wax flowers to compliment Nancy's bouquet and crown.

I used wild cascading jasmine, hellebores both white and tinged purple, plumosa, ferns, ranunculus, and sweet smelling and spiraling garden roses which were the perfect compliment to her vintage and pure romance vibes.

The sunshine is finally here, it's June, and Brooklyn is in full bloom! We took a walk in the hood to say hello to all the little flowers blossoming and gladly whilst wearing a couple of Aurora Vestita lightweight, airy vibrant pieces.... and of course, brought some leftover flowers from the Botanica studio with us, because why not?! Flower party!
